Pregnancy is such a beautiful, personal journey!
It’s a journey full of emotions that will change and enhance your life — a journey filled with flutters and kicks. While pregnant, photography sessions with your loved ones can help you capture the connection between you and your growing baby and keep memories of your journey alive.
A great time to capture images of your pregnancy is between 32 and 36 weeks. During this time, your belly has a beautiful shape and is hopefully far enough away from the chance
A studio photoshoot uses different backdrops: white, black, boho and backlit. You have the time and privacy to make multiple gown changes, and we’ll help you pose to get those gorgeous, timeless, perfectly composed portraits that you will be proud to look back on!
As studio sessions are held indoors, they can happen whether it’s raining or sunny, hot or cold. Therefore, pregnancy photography sessions in the studio are a great option if you’re worried about the weather ruining a perfect photo op!
Location pregnancy photoshoots are held during the so-called golden hour, the last hour before sunset. It really is the most beautiful sight!
Be prepared to get your feet wet & sandy at the beach or be cuddled up & seated on a soft bed of grass. The session will be relaxed, and we will guide you on how to pose to get those stunning, raw, connected moments with your baby bump and family.
We have a variety of beach/park locations to choose from along the bayside of Melbourne, as well as near the studio.
Booking a session for pregnancy photography in Melbourne will be one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your little angel once you welcome him or her into this world.
Aside from being a wonderful opportunity to make lasting memories featuring your cute baby bump, there are other great reasons to book a pregnancy photoshoot:

A.Yes. If you book a Pregnancy AND Newborn session, you receive a $200 discount off your newborn session.
When is the best time to have a maternity photoshoot?
A.Your baby bump will be well-rounded during the third trimester, so it’s ideal to do pregnancy photography between 32 and 36 weeks of your pregnancy.
However, what’s most important is your health. We can schedule your pregnancy photography when you feel most comfortable and have enough energy to radiate in your pregnancy pictures.
What is the best location for pregnancy photography?
A.We have a few ideas in mind! Outdoor natural settings such as the beach or the park always make for amazing backdrops for location pregnancy photography. We recommend scheduling the photoshoot during the golden hour to catch warm and soft light in your pregnancy pictures.
We understand that those locations are not always accessible or the most comfortable. This is why we also offer in-studio pregnancy photography in Melbourne for your convenience.
You can view samples of our location photoshoots and studio photoshoots to give you a few ideas. Ultimately, the best location for pregnancy photography is one that gives you meaning without sacrificing your comfort or safety.
How do I pose for pregnancy pictures?
A.As your pregnancy photographer, our job is to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera! Allow us to guide you through the poses but feel free to incorporate your ideas into the photoshoot.
The best way to pose for pregnancy pictures is to embrace your baby bump! It’s about you and your little one, so experiment with poses that highlight that wonderful connection. Place your hands around your bump, pose for a side profile or bring your partner into the shoot to relax and enjoy the special moment.
How do I prepare for my pregnancy photography session and feel more confident?
A.We know from experience that pregnancy changes your body, and it’s not always easy to feel confident, especially if you have to pose in front of a camera. But you can feel more at ease during your maternity photoshoot if you come prepared.
After booking Bec Gordon Photography as your official photographer, agreeing on a colour palette, theme, or look, and picking out the location, date and time of your shoot, there are a couple of things you need to do for a smooth, stress-free and fun pregnancy photography session with us:
~ Prepare a selection of comfortable clothes that suit the weather and theme you have in mind. More importantly, choose outfits that make you feel great and confident.
~ Choose the props you want included in your pregnancy pictures. These can be baby clothes you’ve prepared for your bub, a copy of your ultrasound, your baby book, flowers, family heirlooms, etc.
~ Inform your partner or loved ones whom you want included in your photoshoot. Let them know about the scheduled photoshoot a couple of weeks in advance so they can make arrangements accordingly.
~ Pamper yourself. Get your hair and makeup done. These are all optional, of course. What’s important is you’ll go to the photoshoot feeling fresh, energetic and your most gorgeous self.
~ Rest up the night before. This way, you’ll have enough energy for the many poses you’ll be making during your pregnancy photography session.
~ Have a good breakfast and stay hydrated. Also, bring along some light snacks you can munch on, as a pregnancy photoshoot can take an hour, depending on the photos you want taken.
Once you’ve covered all the bases, it’s time to relax and enjoy your pregnancy photo session. Trust our experience in pregnancy photography in Melbourne and focus on the anticipation of welcoming your little one. Your pregnancy pictures will capture your joy and excitement for this special time.
